Greetings Referee or Potential Referee,
The Xenia Soccer Club (XSC) is about making recreational soccer FUN, FAIR, and SAFE, with the emphasis on FUN. In order to support the XSC vision of recreational soccer, we need a staff of trained referees who will take pride in knowing the rules of the game better than anyone else on the fields. We need referees who are also confident enough to act on behalf of the XSC Board to quickly and authoritatively enforce the rules as accurately as possible. This is how the XSC Referee Committee and our referee staff will create a FUN, FAIR, and SAFE playing experience for all participants and spectators.
If YOU are ready to be a part of this vision and have fun while you're making some extra cash, the XSC Referee Committee has prepared this letter to invite interested individuals to join our staff for the XSC 2012 season. This year’s season will start Saturday, August 11th and run through the first week or two of October.
The minimum age requirement is 12 years old as of August 1st.
As part of the preparation for the season, we will be conducting referee training clinics:

* All sessions will be held at the XSC storage garage behind the concession stand; this is located on Fairgrounds Rd, left of the Greene County – Mullins Public Pool.
In order to referee for the XSC, new referees MUST attend at least one two-day training session and receive a passing score on both a written and field test. Returning referees must attend one of the Returning Referee Refresher Clinics and receive passing test scores on both a written and field test. The exception for this requirement is if you are already a certified USSF referee. Certified referees will need to present a current year USSF certification card to receive the certified referee pay-level of $15 per game. Certified referees will of course also be required to know and understand any rule application variations as described in the XSC Laws of the Game.
Your pay will be either $10 or $12 per game, based on your test score. Since it is imperative to know and understand the XSC Laws of the Game, a minimum passing score on a written and field test will be required to referee for the season. You will be provided a XSC Laws of the Game booklet that will be reviewed during each training session, along with basic referee and application skills; in order to make a minimum passing score you will need to STUDY the booklet.
